Cinema Africain - International Film Festival

The first edition of the CINÉMA AFRICAIN! International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing a vibrant and youthful Africa through the power of film, challenging western stereotypes, and fostering a deeper understanding of the African continent and its global diaspora by presenting groundbreaking, artistically innovative works from Africa and the African diaspora, outside of the mainstream.

Cinéma Africain! engages with social, political, historical, and cultural realities, offering a diverse selection of films that spark dialogue on pressing socio-political issues, while contributing to the richness of Austria's film landscape. From intimate portraits to socially critical documentaries, the festival provides comprehensive insight into the continent’s varied realities and artistic expressions, delving into themes such as mythology, identity, colonialism, feminism, and coming of age — especially through narratives and perspectives by and about women.
